My professional qualifications that legally allow me to be of assistance to you are the following:
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University with my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. I received the Outstanding Psychology Student Award in 1999. I went on to obtain my License in Counseling and my Certification in Clinical Hypnosis. Along with my counseling practice, I have also worked as a Certified Psychological Assistant for a neuro-psychologist at Vanderbilt University for the last eleven years.
While all these degrees, licensures, and certifications are necessary to practice as a counselor and psychotherapist, I believe that what I have learned through life experience is equally as important. I remember one of my professors saying, “Deborah, with your experiences and understanding of life, you will be graduating with a full degree. Others will have some years to go before they gain the life wisdom that compliments and fulfills a counseling degree.” Well, I guess that is one advantage of being an older student! You’ve got plenty of life experiences!
Raising five children, four of which were all teenagers at once, and surviving the many struggles of a divorce after 20 years of marriage, gives me a level of understanding for so many others who have experienced the same. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me anytime.
