Hypnosis in the Treatment of Depression
“Depression is a debilitating human condition and a common cause of suffering worldwide. Hypnosis has shown itself to be effective in not only reducing symptoms, but in teaching the skills such as rational thinking, effective problem-solving and coping strategies, and positive relationship skills that can even prevent recurrences.”
This quote is taken from the book, Treating Depression With Hypnosis by Michael D. Yapko, PhD. Dr. Yapko is internationally recognized for his work in clinical hypnosis and outcome-focused psychotherapy. He is the author of numerous books, book chapters, and articles on the subjects of brief therapy of depression and the use of clinical hypnosis in strategic psychotherapies.
Nashville therapist Deborah Vaughn has attended many lectures by Dr. Yapko, and has had much success using his hypnosis techniques for the treatment of depression.
Deborah Vaughn graduated Magna Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She went on to obtain her License in Counseling and Certification in Clinical Hypnosis.
